account. Position Summary: The School Counselor's responsibilities
will include: Design and implement a data-driven, comprehensive
school counseling program for students, including students with
disabilities to address barriers to student learning and to close
the achievement/opportunity gap. Provide direct services for
students, including, but not limited to, school counseling,
scheduling and executing core curriculum instruction on social
emotional learning, individual counseling, student success
planning, large and small group counseling, and proactive,
preventative, and responsive services. Support school staff in the
identification, collection and analysis of student performance
data, for improving academics, rigorous goal setting for all
sub-groups. Develop and execute effective action plans to improve
academic, social-emotional, and transition outcomes from one grade
level to another. Assist in the development and implementation of a
multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), including Response to
Intervention (RtI), Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and
School-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS). Work
collaboratively with ESE team, and monitor and track assigned
students on 504 plans. Participate in the process of determining
whether a student qualifies for services, and participates in
staffing or evaluation team meetings and conferences, as
appropriate. Create a school-wide culture of pride, trust and
respect, including the development of preventative proactive
approaches against all forms of mistreatment and bullying. Work
collaboratively with other school counselors, academic and school
advisors to achieve established goals of the comprehensive school
counseling program aligned to American School Counseling
Association (ASCA) and Collaborative for Academic, Social , and
Emotional Learning (CASEL) Provide counseling for students during
times of transition, separation, heightened stress and critical
change. Provide indirect services on behalf of students including,
but not limited to, referrals for additional assistance and
consultation/collaboration with parents, teachers, administrators,
and other key stakeholders to create learning environments that
promote educational equity, access and success for every student.
Analyze and report outcomes of the school counseling program.
Support the continuum of mental health services, including
prevention and intervention strategies, and identify best practices
for collaborating with school-based and community mental health
providers to enhance student success. Arrange and participate in
student, parent and teacher conferences and data chats with
administrators as needed. Maintain records of conferences and send
reports, within the limits of confidentiality, to the grade level
administrator. Facilitate the process and analysis of documentation
for student referrals and provide guidance to faculty and staff on
the process. Communicate with school leaders, teachers and parents
regarding the individual needs of identified students. Perform
other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: • Education: An
earned master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution •
Certification: Eligibility for Florida Educator’s Certification in
Guidance and Counseling and/or School Counseling • Experience: 0-1
years. Preferred Qualifications: • Prior K-12 counseling experience
preferred. • Demonstrated ability to deliver school counseling
program supports and interventions that promote student
achievement, social-emotional development, and college/career
readiness. • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, evaluate,
and document outcomes of a comprehensive school counseling program.
